The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA), in partnership with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), conducted a training-workshop on the conduct of Competitive Selection Process (CSP) for the electric cooperatives operating in Luzon.
The training-workshop was held on Tuesday (April 2) at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, and was attended by a total of 235 corporate planning officers and technical personnel from different ECs in Luzon.
The event is in line with the issuance of ERC Resolution No. 16, Series of 2023, titled “Implementing Guidelines for the Procurement, Execution, and Evaluation of Power Supply Agreements by Distribution Utilities for the Supply of Electricity to their Captive Market.”
In his remarks, PHILRECA President Joselito Yap commended the workshop participants, saying their commitment and dedication underscore the importance of ensuring transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the CSP.
“I am confident that your participation, with our collective efforts, will pave the way for the successful implementation of CSP within our cooperatives,” Yap said.
He also thanked the ERC for their unwavering support and guidance in the activity, adding that the agency’s steadfast commitment to regulatory excellence “serves as a cornerstone in our pursuit of a sustainable and resilient energy landscape.”
Meanwhile, PHILRECA Executive Director and General Manager Atty. Janeene Depay-Colingan extended her gratitude to the Luzon ECs for their active participation and valuable contributions throughout the workshop.
“I believe that our collective efforts and engagement have undoubtedly enriched our understanding of the guidelines, pertaining to the Conduct of Competitive Selection Processes,” Colingan said.
“The insights shared, and the discussions held have been instrumental in equipping us with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement CSP within our member electric cooperatives,” she added.
The PHILRECA executive also urged the ECs to remain steadfast in their commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability in all their endeavors.
