Mental Health Awareness Seminar Spearheaded by the Isabela II Electric Cooperative (ISELCO II)

April 5, 2024 – Today’s Mental Health Awareness Seminar Spearheaded by the Isabela II Electric Cooperative (ISELCO II) was a success as Department Managers, Division Chiefs, Section Heads, and Staffs from the cooperative gathered to break barriers and talk about mental health at City of Ilagan Hotel and Convention Center, Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela. Attached to the large availability of information that comes from our modern-day world are misconceptions that perpetuate the stigma around mental health. Thus, this event was designed to highlight the real-world challenges that today’s adults confront.
In the participation of the seminar by Queen Isabella Court No. 14, Order of the Amaranth led by Royal Matron Jennifer M. De Bien, they conducted free Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing for each participant who attended the said event to provide insights into the overall health status of each participant. Our distinguished and knowledgeable guest speakers from Isabela State University – Ilagan Campus, the Associate Professor II, Head of Guidance and Counselling Unit, Dr. Kathreen C. Joson, together with the Assistant Professor I and Chairperson BS Psychology Program, Mr. Dominick B. Agoot, and Instructor II Guidance Coordinator, Ms. Karla Mikaella M. Gomez, shared their wisdom and expertise and discussed the developmental factors of the human psyche, mental health red flags, maladaptive and effective coping mechanisms, and healthy lifestyle changes.
The success of this event has truly marked the significance of not just the employees, but everyone’s mental well-being. This mental health awareness seminar is a reminder for us to check up on ourselves and the people around us.
May we continue to plant a seed of kindness and understanding within us to cultivate a society where mental health is honored and celebrated through awareness and advocacy.
