EC Organizational Restructuring and Realignment in conformity with EPIRA Demands and ERC Guidelines and Requirements

On October 23–26, 2022, the Philippine Federation of Electric Cooperatives (PHILFECO) hosted a seminar on “EC Organizational Restructuring and Realignment in conformity with EPIRA Demands and ERC Guidelines and Requirements.” The seminar was attended by representatives from ISELCO II including Mr. Benaldbert Bautista, Branch Manager, Ms. Apryl Cubangbang, MSD Chief, Engineer Harold David, LCOMD Chief, and Ms. Mary Claire Valencia, Information Officer.
The seminar’s main objective was to prepare Electric Cooperatives (ECs) with adequate knowledge about the fundamentals of organizational restructuring and functional realignment that will help ECs adapt to the service demands and impending changes brought on by the open access and retail competition environment envisioned by EPIRA, as well as the implementation of the ERC-mandated separation and unbundling plan for all parties in the electric power industry.
R.A. 9136, otherwise known as the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001 provides a framework for the restructuring of the electric power industry.
The seminar encouraged its member ECs to review and reassess their vision, mission, and goals to make sure they remain consistent with the demands of EPIRA. Additionally, the seminar emphasized the importance of restructuring and reorganization to ensure that the ECs’ current organizational structures remain applicable to their present operations.
