“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.” -John 3:14–15

Reflection: On this feast, we contemplate the paradox of the Cross, which was transformed from an instrument of execution into the tree of life. Just as the Israelites looked upon the bronze serpent to be healed, we look upon the crucified Christ for salvation from sin. The Cross is the ultimate manifestation of God’s sacrificial love and victory over death. By embracing our own daily crosses in faith, we share in the life and glory of Christ’s Resurrection.
