PHILRECA elects new set of Officers during their annual convention in Iloilo
The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. or PHILRECA expresses its sincerest congratulations to the new set of officers elected during the opening of the association’s 2022 Convention and 43rd Annual General Membership Meeting held yesterday at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.
“Our heartfelt thanks to the members of the Association who have participated in the election of officers yesterday. The continued support of our members is what keeps us going despite the threats and challenges initiated by those who do not believe in our advocacy,” expressed Atty. Janeene Depay-Colingan, Executive Director of PHILRECA.
She added that with the leadership of the newly elected President, the Organization will continue to fight for its advocacy, defend the members against unjust corporate takeover, and promote the welfare and interest of not ECs and member-consumer-owners.
“Our incoming president, President Joselito P. Yap, is not new to defending electric cooperatives and with his passion and commitment as a Warrior of Light together with the foundation established by the outgoing leadership of Pres. Presley C. De Jesus, we believe that we will be able to accomplish our objectives and even more,” added Atty. Colingan.
“I welcome the overwhelming support given to President Yap by the members of the Association. I hear nothing but good words, praises, and felicitations from respected people in the industry,” De Jesus said in a statement.
“I strongly believe with all my heart that the Association will be in good hands and will be able to reach new milestones and frontiers with this new set of officers,” added De Jesus.
Mr. Joselito P. Yap, a Director from Leyte 5 Electric Cooperative Inc. (LEYECO 5), the incoming president of the Association, has expressed his message of unity to all delegates of the convention during the oath-taking of the new set of officers today.
“I would like to thank the organization and the outgoing officers for an outstanding foundation and performance it is leaving us new officers. The leadership of Pres. De Jesus is nothing short of exemplary,” said Yap.
“It may be difficult to surpass their accomplishments, but we will do our best to meet the expectations – at the very least – of the members from us,” added Yap.
